Yellow Burst

How beautiful are the patterns in this photograph? I was at the bus top where I saw this plant and loved the beauty of it. Of course it is a weed and you see millions of them growing all over the roadsides and beyond in California, but I had to take a photo regardless and I love it. There was a girl sitting on a bench near this plant who looked at me like I was crazy. I guess a reality check is always nice. I joined Spoonflower and think that I would like to make a fabric pattern inspired by this photo.

why do we feel the need to pull/disregard weeds, even if they're pleasing/pretty?! sometimes i think if i leave that giant thistle in the middle of my yard, rather than pulling it, it'd be an interesting focal point. but then if my tidy-lawn friends come over, i'd feel like a lazy yokel...

Thanks for your comment on my blog! It seems I have found a use for my patchwork - it just needs to grow even bigger, then it will become a curtain in a loft space!

By the way, I think this lovely plant is called Queen Annes lace. Take a look at a graphic representation of it by Cicada Studio on my blog today.

Cheers,
